Restylane/perlane
Restylane
Restylane is a so-called "dermal filler", a preparation that is injected into the skin dermis to temporarily fill out wrinkles, and scars, as well as build and define areas such as the chin, lips and cheekbones.
The Restylane substance consists of hyaluronic acid, something that occurs naturally in the skin and this contributes to the filling and skin elasticity by binding to the water. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is synthetically produced (not from animals) and is identical to the hyaluronic acid found naturally in the skin. Restylane was introduced in the late 90's and since then over six million treatments have been given.
The treatment is very simple and efficient, and takes between 5 to 30 minutes depending on how many areas are addressed. Filling of creases, wrinkles or scars and the building of his chin and cheeks can usually be done without anesthesia. If you prefer, a local anesthetic cream applied one hour before treatment. Lips are sensitive to pain and lip augmentation is performed often under local anesthesia (called a block).
Treatment is by injection with a very thin needle and provides an immediate and noticeable result without leaving behind scars or visible marks. After treatment, you may notice some temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and itching for a few days.
Restylane degrades and the treatment is not permanent but only temporary. This gives you the opportunity to try it and see if you think the effect is the one you wanted and expected.
The effect remains for about 6 months. After that, you can repeat the treatment. If repeated the result often lasts longer. It is common that the treatment is repeated within one year.
Perlane
Perlane is very similar to Resytlane, but consists of larger particles of hyaluronic acid. The difference is that Perlane will be more filling, which is why it is used where you want a clearer effect of coarse wrinkles, for lip enlargement and to mark the cheekbones and chin. Sometimes Restylane and Perlane are combined during the same treatment. The effect of the Perlane is slightly longer lasting than Restylane, about 9 months.
If you treated your skin with a laser or chemical peel, you should wait 4-6 weeks before being treated with Restylane or Perlane.
At Victoriakliniken we have over ten years of experience using Resylane- and Perlaneproducts so if you are considering a treatment, we can guarantee that you're in good hands with us. As with the surgery we perform, we are very concerned with you being satisfied with the result.
Sub-Q
Sub-Q contains, like Restylane and Perlane, hyaluronic acid and is thus a temporary filler. The difference is that the hyaluronic acid particles in the Sub-Q is even larger and therefore produce more volume than Perlane. Sub-Q is used to enlarge the chin and highlighting cheekbones and in areas where greater filling is required, such as sunken cheeks.
Permanent fillers
We have chosen to use non-permanent, temporary, fillers since there are no permanent fillers on the market today that are guaranteed free from side effects. In addition, the result of a permanent filler will change with time as the skin and underlying tissues age and become thinner.
