No PIP implants at Victoriakliniken
Because of the extensive news coverage about the so-called PIP implants, we provide the following information:
Victoriakliniken has NEVER used the implants of the type reported, and that created a lot of attention, mainly in France.

Silicone-filled breast implants from the French manufacturer Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) has not been marketed, sold or implanted in Sweden since March 2010. The reason is lack of implant quality which has led to reports of rupture of the outer casing, and a tissue-irritating effect of silicone gel.
However, the French regulator AFFSAPS failed to show an association between the use of this implant type and various forms of cancer tumors.
In France, about 30 000 women have these implants, in Sweden, about around 4000 women.
The Swedish Drug Administration's recommendation is that Swedish clinics who historically used these implants should contact their patients.
Women who feel uneasy should contact the clinic that performed the surgery. However, no further action is recommended, such as removal of the implants as a precautionary measure.
For Victoriaklinken-patients who have implants from Allergan and Mentor, there is no reason for concern, as these implants are of an entirely different quality and with a completely different content. (20120102)
