About Mia Femtech™ at Victoriakliniken in Stockholm.
Mia Femtech™ was launched in 2023 and is a technology that Dr. Charles Randquist has been involved in developing since 2016, together with a team from ESTA. Victoriakliniken is one of three international training clinics for Mia Femtech™ in the world.
How does it work?
Mia Femtech™ is an innovative minimally invasive technique designed for those who have a nice shape to their breasts but desire an enlargement that is discreet and proportional, with an increase of one to two cup sizes.
The technique allows you to return to your usual activities immediately after the treatment because no nerves or blood vessels in the breast are cut when creating the pocket for the implant.
This is the most breast-conserving surgery that can be performed, making it very safe and reliable while reducing the risk of loss of sensation in the nipples.
Who is it suitable for?
The Mia Femtech™ technique is for all women seeking a natural change and enlargement in harmony with the breasts you have. It is especially for you if you identify with one or more of the following statements:
- You are looking for a harmonization of your breasts with discreet results that are proportional to your body.
- Your breasts are not the size you desire, and you are tired of using compensatory methods to achieve a nice décolletage, such as a padded bra or a push-up bra.
- You want to restore the shape of your breasts after breastfeeding or weight loss.
- You want to fill the emptiness that is created in the upper part of the breast.
- You desire a small change in the size of your breasts with minimal trauma and minimal scarring that is hidden in the armpit.
- You want to be able to resume your daily activities and exercise as soon as possible after the procedure.
- You prefer local anesthesia and quick recovery.
- You prefer to avoid antibiotic treatment after the surgery.
- You want to avoid cutting into the breast muscle.
- You want discreet scars in the armpit.
- You value minimal risk of infection and capsule formation.
Have you lost weight or breastfed and lost volume in your breasts? Do you naturally have small breasts and wish to be one to two cup sizes larger?
Then you are a suitable candidate. Victoriakliniken has been involved in the development of Mia Femtech™ and is an international training clinic; we are now looking for individuals who want to participate as patients in our study.
Before the procedure.
In connection with your booking, you will receive a detailed description of how to best prepare for the procedure regarding diet, drink, medication, exercise, blood tests, and an InBody body scan that measures your values.
We have a holistic approach to health and aim to optimize the results with these preparations. All of this is, of course, included in the price. In this way, we also ensure that you have a safer and quicker recovery.
The implant.
The implants come with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer, which means they will be replaced free of charge if they (against all odds) were to break. The implant used in the Mia Femtech™ procedure, Diamond, is oval in shape, allowing for greater projection than a traditionally shaped breast implant, despite having a smaller volume.
This means that despite the smaller volume, the breasts will have a larger appearance. The implants are created with the latest technology in the Establishment Labs® portfolio of breast implants.
Through an innovative and unique silicone distribution used in the shell manufacturing process with ultra-high purity, called SuperSilicones®, an incredibly elastic shell that is very soft has been created.
Additionally, these implants are filled 100% with a highly cohesive low-viscosity gel (ProgressiveGel® Ultima®). The integration of these technologies gives Mia Femtech™’s diamond implants improved mechanical properties, allowing for greater adaptability, stress resistance, and flexibility. This results in a smaller incision and softer implant with less rippling.
Victoriakliniken’s technique for Mia in Stockholm.
ImplantsIt is inserted through an incision of about 2.5 cm in the armpit. The placement makes the scars nearly impossible to see. The insertion of the implants is based on a unique, patented, high-tech system that preserves breast tissue. The Mia procedure is reversible. It is possible to remove the prostheses in the same manner as they were inserted.
During the Mia procedure.
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, which means you will be completely pain-free. You can typically leave the clinic within 90 minutes after the procedure has been completed.
After the Mia procedure.
After the procedure, you can expect some swelling and tenderness, which usually peaks on the second or third day and then gradually subsides.
You will take pain relief medication home with you, and after a week, you will come to us for a follow-up and check-up. We recommend that you do not exercise at all during the first three weeks after the procedure. Walking is fine right after. After six weeks, you can begin to train fully, which is twice as fast compared to a traditional breast augmentation.
Results of the Mia procedure.
The final result will not be visible immediately. During the first 72 hours, you will experience swelling. The implants have not yet “settled,” and the breast will not be fully round.
After six weeks, your sutures will start to be absorbed, and the implants will settle. Between three to six months after the procedure, the final shape will become visible, and after two years, when your scar tissue has softened, the breasts will have taken their final form.
Possible complications of Mia.
Följande information, baserad på FDA, bör beaktas innan man genomgår bröstförstoring, rekonstruktion eller kirurgi efter en tidigare bröstoperation.
- Breast augmentation with implants is not guaranteed to last a lifetime. Therefore, you may require multiple surgeries due to the need for implant replacement or complications.
- The longer you have breast implants, the more likely you are to experience local complications, which may be cosmetically undesirable.
- The most common complications and negative outcomes are capsule contracture. Other complications may include rupture, rippling, asymmetry, scarring, pain, and infection at the incision site.
- There are various shapes, structures, and styles of breast implants; discuss your expectations, as well as the benefits and risks associated with breast implants, with your surgeon.
- If you remove the implants and do not replace them, you may experience changes in your natural breasts, such as looser skin, loss of breast tissue, or other undesirable cosmetic changes.
- As long as you have breast implants, you should attend follow-up appointments. For patients with silicone gel-filled breast implants, your doctor may recommend regular ultrasound examinations to check for ruptures or other complications. With us, you receive 10 years of follow-up included. After that, you have the option to purchase an additional 5–10 years.
- If you notice any unusual changes in your breasts or implants, you should contact your doctor immediately.
- There is a risk of developing a type of cancer called “breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL)” in the breast or the scar tissue (capsule) surrounding the implants. BIA-ALCL is not breast cancer. Treatment for BIA-ALCL involves the removal of the implant and the capsule surrounding the implant, and some patients have required chemotherapy or radiation therapy. This has not been demonstrated with smooth implants, which is what the Diamond implant shell is.
