Abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure that improves the shape of the body by removing excess skin and fat around the abdomen. In addition, the abdominal muscles are often tightened.
Excess skin and fat around the abdomen is partly due to genetic factors but diet and exercise habits also come into play. Pregnancy is also significant when the abdominal muscles and the abdominal skin is stretched out both mechanically and hormonally during pregnancy.
The operation is performed on both men and women with very great results, which will be lasting as long as you do not gain weight afterwards.
Often a tummy tuck is combined with liposuction of the abdomen, hips, waist and back for the result to be symmetrical around the trunk. Liposuction means that large amounts of saline mixed with local anesthetics are injected in adipose tissue, after which the liquid and fat tissue is aspirated through needles. The fluid injected is to enable better shaping of the areas without getting an uneven result, and to reduce bleeding and swelling after the procedure. At Victoriakliniken thin needles are always used, which requires a little more work and time during the actual surgery, but gives the best and most consistent end result.
The operation is performed under general anesthetic, which means you are asleep and pain-free throughout the procedure. After a tummy tuck you stay one night at the clinic. If you have a full tummy tuck combined with liposuction you stay at the clinic two nights.
The procedure usually starts with liposuction of the back, waist and abdomen. The total amount being removed is usually 3-4 liters of fat and liquid. Then an incision is made at the bikini line and the abdominal skin with adipose tissue is released. The abdominal muscle, which is often stretched out, is drawn together in the midline and then the excess skin and fat is removed. The total volume of tissue removed sometimes 10-12 kg in larger patients.
The incision is always placed as unobtrusively as possible, just above the pubic area, and usually continues like a high cut bikini up against the hip bone edges. Taping the cut for six months after surgery usually leaves the scars thin and fine.
After surgery, expect some swelling and pain. This is worst the second to third day and then declines gradually. You will get painkillers to take home with you. After a week we will see you on a return visit for checking the wound and after three weeks you will come back to remove the stitches.
To prevent swelling, it is important to wear a girdle day and night for three weeks after surgery and then for another three weeks at night. An additional way to reduce the swelling is through so-called endermologie, lymphatic drainage therapy: two treatments before and four treatments after surgery.
You can read more about endermologi under the “Dokuments”-tab.

We recommend our patients to do endermology before an abdominoplasty or liposuction, to enhance blood circulation in the fatty areas, and to speed-up recovery. After surgery this treatment can help drain fluid, and lessen swelling and pain.
Price full abdominoplastySome patients wonder why we don't have a fixed price list. We have chosen not to have one as each patient is unique with unique conditions for an operation. Since conditions vary from patient to patient, no surgery is exactly the same, although there are more standardized procedures such as breast augmentation. The price-range for some surgeries is so great that we feel that we need to meet our patients in order to provide a fair and accurate price. In addition, it is often only at the time of consultation that we together with you will find out which procedure or procedures are suitable for achieving a beautiful, final result. For example, it may be advisable to combine a tummy tuck with liposuction of the abdomen or waist. Our goal is perfection and that you should be completely satisfied with the result after surgery. If several procedures are performed at the same time, the pricing will be different than if the procedures are performed each in itself. It's important to remember that in addition to the actual cost of surgery, the proce also includes anaesthetic, all medication, all revisits (often three) and often at least one overnight stay including meals, after surgery. Here you can read more about what is included when booking an operation at the Victoriakliniken. You are welcome to contact us to ask about approximate prices. Your questions will of course be answered as best as possible. We hope you are lenient about us not following a fixed price list as each patient is unique with unique conditions, which is why individual pricing is the most accurate. Virtually all prices are shown including VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those made for medical reasons have VAT added in Sweden since the turn of 2014/2015. Whether your procedure is medically motivated or not, is also something that needs to be concluded at a personal meeting. In cases where the price is quoted excluding VAT, this is because these procedures are always performed on a medical basis. We also offer payment through Klarna, which means you can decide for yourself how you want to divide your payment.
