Nipple & areola surgery
Information about nipple & areola surgery
Inverted nipples is something that many women want to fix.
The reason that the nipples becomes retracted, is that the connective tissue inside, the gland ducts, are not sufficiently flexible and soft, and the nipple retracts.
Inverted nipples is not just about looks, but is also something that can cause problems with breastfeeding.
It may be difficult for the baby to suck, and dirt may accumulate or eczema occur.
Fixing inverted nipples is a relatively simple procedure that gives a very good result.
Sometimes the nipples are “squeezed out” by themselves after a breast augmentation or breast feeding. Therefore, we recommend delaying surgery until after breastfeeding.
In other cases, patients suffer from the opposite; the nipples are “too long” and pointing slightly downwards.
Also this is possible to fix with a procedure called a nipplereduction, which is simply a shortening of the nipple.
