Breast reconstruction
Informations about breast reconstruction
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women in the Western world. Normally, at breast cancer surgery, the the entire breast, including the nipple and glands in the armpit is removed.
This leaves a completely flat chest without the nipple and areola, with a large scar across the chest.
Sometimes, a breast reconstruction is performed directly related to the breast cancer surgery, for an immediate reconstruction. But it is also common to do a late reconstruction long after.
Most women prefer an immediate reconstruction, if possible. It may also be easier to identify with their new breasts if the reconstruction is done in conjunction with the breast cancer surgery.
A breast that has been removed can be reconstructed in two ways: Either you put in an breast implant, or you take tissue from another part of the body to replace lost breast tissue.
The technology used depends on several factors, and of course patient wishes. For example what type of cancer you have had and where you choose to do the surgery.
At Victoriakliniken we do reconstructive surgery with implants. Most often, the procedure must be done in several stages. If there are ugly scars left behind from the breast cancer operation, they will be corrected. Then, the remaining skin is “expanded” with the help of an expander, so that enough skin is available to cover the implant.
If this is not enough, extra skin is taken from elsewhere on the body.
In a later procedure, a nipple will be created, and finally, an areola is tattooed around the nipple, when the scars have healed properly.
Usually if you stay one or two days at the clinic in conjunction with breast reconstruction.
You get painkillers for one to two weeks after surgery. Recovery can take one to five weeks.
It is also common to have to undergo more surgery to achieve optimal results.

Prices breast reconstruction
Some patients wonder why we don't have a fixed price list. We have chosen not to have one as each patient is unique with unique conditions for an operation. Since conditions vary from patient to patient, no surgery is exactly the same, although there are more standardized procedures such as breast augmentation. The price-range for some surgeries is so great that we feel that we need to meet our patients in order to provide a fair and accurate price. In addition, it is often only at the time of consultation that we together with you will find out which procedure or procedures are suitable for achieving a beautiful, final result. For example, it may be advisable to combine a tummy tuck with liposuction of the abdomen or waist. Our goal is perfection and that you should be completely satisfied with the result after surgery. If several procedures are performed at the same time, the pricing will be different than if the procedures are performed each in itself. It's important to remember that in addition to the actual cost of surgery, the proce also includes anaesthetic, all medication, all revisits (often three) and often at least one overnight stay including meals, after surgery. Here you can read more about what is included when booking an operation at the Victoriakliniken. You are welcome to contact us to ask about approximate prices. Your questions will of course be answered as best as possible. We hope you are lenient about us not following a fixed price list as each patient is unique with unique conditions, which is why individual pricing is the most accurate. Virtually all prices are shown including VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those made for medical reasons have VAT added in Sweden since the turn of 2014/2015. Whether your procedure is medically motivated or not, is also something that needs to be concluded at a personal meeting. In cases where the price is quoted excluding VAT, this is because these procedures are always performed on a medical basis. We also offer payment through Klarna, which means you can decide for yourself how you want to divide your payment.
