About labiaplasty
Reduction of the labia, also known as labiaplasty, is a common procedure in intimate surgery performed for both aesthetic and functional reasons. Many women experience asymmetrical or enlarged labia after puberty or pregnancy, which can cause discomfort during physical activities, such as sports, or when wearing tight clothing. Labiaplasty can reduce discomfort like pain and irritation, resulting in both a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing outcome.

Before labiaplasty
During a consultation about labiaplasty with our specialized plastic surgeon at Victoriakliniken in Stockholm, we discuss your needs and preferences regarding labiaplasty. You have the opportunity to share the issues you are experiencing and the results you want to achieve with intimate surgery.
Based on your individual conditions, we discuss different techniques to provide you with the best possible result. The plastic surgeon conducts a thorough assessment that includes the amount of excess tissue, any asymmetry, and your skin quality.
We provide information about the methods we use to optimize the result and give clear instructions on how to prepare for labiaplasty, as well as what to expect during the healing process.
During labiaplasty
The labiaplasty procedure is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, ensuring that you are pain-free throughout the procedure and can return home the same day. In the first few days after the surgery, you may experience some tightness and pulling in the surgical area, but the pain is typically mild and can be managed with mild painkillers, such as Alvedon. We will ensure that you receive the necessary medications to facilitate your recovery at home.
After labiaplasty
After labiaplasty, the area may be swollen, and you may feel some tenderness for 2–3 days. It is important to rest during the first few days to facilitate recovery. We ensure that you receive pain relief medication to alleviate any discomfort. One week after the surgery, you will return to Victoriakliniken in Stockholm for a postoperative check-up, where we monitor the healing process.
To ensure the best possible result, it is recommended that you avoid sexual intercourse, sauna, and sports activities for six weeks after the procedure.
Results and Expectations
After labiaplasty, bruising may occur, but these typically disappear within a couple of weeks. To accelerate the healing process and optimize the result, we recommend massaging the skin, maintaining a good diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products. The result of labiaplasty is usually long-lasting. The final result will not be visible immediately – during the first 72 hours, swelling will increase, but after approximately six weeks, most of the swelling will have subsided. The final shape will be visible between three to six months after the surgery, and after two years, your scar tissue will have softened completely.

Many patients who choose labiaplasty often complement it with a clitoral lift or liposuction of the mons pubis to achieve optimal aesthetic and proportional results.
These treatments together contribute to a comprehensive solution that enhances both appearance and self-confidence.
