About rhinoplasty
A nose surgery can dramatically change the size and shape of the nose. During the consultation, we carefully discuss your wishes and conditions to achieve a natural and well-proportioned result.
At Victoriakliniken in Stockholm, rhinoplasty is most commonly performed as an open surgery using the preservation method. This technique preserves as much of the nasal structure as possible to minimize the risks of impaired breathing and collapse. It provides the surgeon with control, reduces bleeding and swelling, and results in a natural outcome without visible scars.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, during which the nasal structures, such as bone and cartilage, are reshaped. You can usually go home the same day or the day after.
Quick facts about the procedure
Operating time: 1–3 hours
Price: from 75 000 SEK
Time at the clinic: You usually leave the clinic the same day.
Return to work: 10 days
Before surgery
Upon booking your surgery, you will receive a detailed description of how to best prepare for the procedure regarding diet, fluids, medication, exercise, blood tests, and an InBody body scan that measures your values.
We have a holistic approach to health and aim to optimize your preparation for surgery and ensure the best possible recovery. All of this is, of course, included in the price of your surgery.
During the surgery
At Victoriakliniken, two techniques are used for rhinoplasty: open or closed. The choice depends on the desired change, skin quality, and the surgeon’s assessment. Open rhinoplasty is most commonly used for optimal control during surgery. It is performed under general anesthesia, and you can go home the same day.
After the surgery
Follow-up visits usually take place within a week with your plastic surgeon at the clinic. After the surgery, you can expect some swelling and discoloration around the eyes.
This usually peaks around the second to third day and then gradually subsides, so it’s recommended to sleep with your head elevated during the first few days. If your nasal bone has been operated on, you will need to wear a plastic cast for one week and tape for an additional week.
Results
Bruising may occur but typically fades within 7–10 days. Maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products can also accelerate the healing process and help ensure the best possible outcome. The results are generally long-lasting after the surgery.
The final result will not be visible immediately. During the first 72 hours, your swelling will increase.
After six weeks, most of your swelling will have been absorbed. Between three to six months after the surgery, the final shape will become visible, and after two years, your scar tissue will have softened.

Satisfied Patients
Twenty years ago, my wife had a rhinoplasty, and this year, our daughter did too. We are incredibly pleased with the results and want to share this experience with others.
I can’t quite remember why we chose Victoriakliniken—it might have just been luck. The entire process, from consultation to surgery, aftercare, and follow-up, has been handled wonderfully.

Nose fillers.
All fillers in the nose must be removed before surgery. Fillers can affect the results and lead to complications such as scarring.

Brow lift – Complement your rhinoplasty.
To complement a rhinoplasty and achieve a harmonious facial expression, you may consider a brow lift, which lifts and tightens the skin for a more refreshed appearance.
These combinations can provide a balanced and aesthetically pleasing overall result.

How is a rhinoplasty performed at Victoriakliniken?
At Victoriakliniken, we most often perform open rhinoplasty. This technique provides the surgeon with optimal access to the nasal structures, allowing for more precise and tailored correction.
Step by step:
-
Consultation: We discuss your wishes and expectations, analyze your nose and facial structure, and create a personalized treatment plan.
-
Surgery: The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes 1–3 hours. The surgeon makes a small incision between the nostrils and reshapes the cartilage and bone to achieve the desired form.
-
Aftercare: You will receive detailed instructions on aftercare and follow-up visits. A light plastic cast is worn during the first week.
What is the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty?
-
Open rhinoplasty: Provides the surgeon with better visibility and control, allowing for more complex corrections. Suitable for most rhinoplasty procedures.
-
Closed rhinoplasty: Incisions are made inside the nostrils, minimizing visible scars. However, it limits the surgeon’s access and is mainly used for minor corrections.
What is the recovery time after a rhinoplasty?
