Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck can be ideal for addressing excess skin and fat around the abdomen, as well as a widened abdominal muscle. This procedure focuses on these areas without affecting the navel and requires a shorter incision. It’s typically recommended when the primary issue isn’t extensive skin excess. Often, this condition is influenced by genetic factors, though pregnancy, diet, and exercise habits also play a role.

About the procedure

The procedure is performed on both men and women, offering lasting results as long as weight gain is avoided afterward. A tummy tuck is often combined with liposuction of the abdomen, hips, waist, and back to achieve a balanced, symmetrical contour around the torso. During liposuction, a saline solution mixed with local anesthetic is injected into the fatty tissue, allowing the solution and fat to be removed smoothly with the help of cannulas.

The injected solution helps to shape the areas being treated more precisely, minimizing any unevenness while also reducing bleeding and swelling during recovery. At Victoriakliniken, we use various types of cannulas and equipment to ensure the best possible conditions for a smooth, even result.

Before the surgery

Based on each patient’s unique characteristics, we discuss the various methods available to achieve the best possible results. The plastic surgeon evaluates the amount of excess fat and assesses the patient’s skin quality. We provide detailed information about the procedure itself and the different techniques we use to optimize body contouring.

We recommend undergoing 2–4 endermology or LPG treatments before surgery, as these stimulate and open up the lymphatic channels. This helps create better healing conditions by allowing waste products from the surgery to be effectively transported away.

Technique

The procedure typically begins with liposuction of the back, waist, and abdomen. Next, an incision is made along the bikini line, and the abdominal skin with underlying fat is carefully detached. The abdominal muscles, which are often stretched, are tightened and sutured along the midline in a procedure known as rectus plication. Finally, the excess skin and fat are removed. The total volume removed depends on the patient’s body structure and weight.

The incision is always placed as discreetly as possible, just above the hairline, often extending like a high-cut bikini line toward the hip bones. Victoriakliniken has refined a technique using very low incisions. By taping the incision for six months, scars typically heal to be thin and refined.

During the surgery

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, meaning you’ll be asleep and pain-free throughout. If you’ve had a mini tummy tuck combined with muscle tightening, you’ll stay at the clinic for two nights; otherwise, you can usually return home the same day.

After the surgery

After the procedure, you can expect some swelling and discomfort, typically peaking around the second or third day, then gradually subsiding. You will be provided with pain-relief medications to take home. A follow-up appointment for wound check is scheduled one to two weeks after surgery. We use dissolvable sutures that don’t need removal; this special type of suture, known as Quill, reduces the risk of widened or unsightly scars based on our experience.

To reduce swelling, it’s important to wear a compression garment day and night for the first three weeks post-surgery, and then at night for an additional three weeks. Another effective way to minimize swelling is through endermology/lymphatic drainage therapy, both before and three to four weeks after the procedure. We recommend two sessions before surgery and four sessions afterward.

Results

Bruising may occur but usually disappears within a couple of weeks. Massaging the skin, maintaining a good diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding nicotine products also accelerate the healing process and ensure the best possible final result. The results are generally long-lasting after the surgery.

Possible Complications

As with any type of surgery, there is always a risk of complications with liposuction, such as infection, bleeding, or seroma. However, the most common issue is unevenness. Depending on the quality of the skin, this can sometimes be difficult to assess in advance.

Price

We have chosen not to have a fixed price list, as each patient is unique with individual needs. In most cases, it’s only during the consultation that we can determine, together with you, which procedure(s) will be best to achieve a beautiful final result. With us, in addition to the surgery cost, anesthesia, medications, follow-up visits, compression garments, and bras are included, as well as, in most cases, at least one overnight stay after the surgery.

In general, all prices are shown inclusive of VAT, as all procedures and treatments except those performed for medical reasons have been subject to VAT since the beginning of 2014. In cases where the price is shown exclusive of VAT, this is because these procedures are always performed on medical grounds. (Price below includes VAT)
